Conversion Techniques

There are four  types of conversion technologies currently available, each is appropriate for different biomass types and results in specific energy products.

Thermal Conversion

Thermochemical           Conversion

Biochemical            Conversion

Chemical Conversion

Involves the use of heat, with or without the presence of oxygen, to convert biomass materials into other forms of energy

Involves the use of heat and chemicals, to convert biomass into other forms of energy

Involves the use of enzymes, bacteria or other microorganisms to break down biomass into liquid fuels

Involves the use of chemical agents to break down biomass into liquid fuels
